Set 1
Characterization - the way in which an author presents the thoughts and feelings of the characters. In direct presentation, a character is described by the author, the narrator or the other characters. In indirect presentation, a character's traits are revealed by action and speech. Flat/Round Character - Flat characters are two-dimensional in that they are relatively uncomplicated and do not change throughout the course of a work. By contrast, round characters are complex and undergo development, sometimes sufficiently to surprise the reader. Internal/External Conflict - the problem or area of tension within a story. External conflict is a problem outside of the protagonist's control. Internal conflict is a problem that exists within the characters themselves. Static/Dynamic Characters - A STATIC character does not change over the course of the story while the DYNAMIC character undergoes some great transformation from the conflict that s/he must overcome.
