Please pull out a piece of paper and write down the steps or tricks to get closer to an answer on the Math section of the SAT.
SAT Review Notes Math Basics/Essential 1. Arithmetic Mean 2. Ratios 3. Geometry Problems a. b. c. d. e. f. 4. Dealing with exponents 5. Algebra 6. Rate/Time/Direct Relationships - Example: if it takes 5 minutes to eat 12 hot dogs, how many hot dogs can you eat in 1/2 an hour? 7. Combinations 8. Word Problems Today, we will take ALL the math sections on test 10 of your booklet. Time permitting, you will score yourself and come up with a strong sense of where you are at and what you need to focus on for the rest of the week.
After scoring yourself, please fill out THIS FORM. For Wednesday, look through THIS math essentials document at your specific areas of weakness. I have created a document that contains an overview of both the math and reading info we have, and will, cover.
HERE it is. Homework Due 8/1 - Test #2 Math Sections 2, 5 & 8 from test 2 (pg 452 - 486) Please take a moment to find the score that is needed in order for you to get into the college of your choice.
Then fill out THIS FORM Homework Due 9/24 by the start of class - Complete the Reading & Grammar Sections of Test #2 - Make sure to calculate your score and review the missed problems. Sections 4, 6, 7, 9,10 Notes Vocab in context 1. Cover the answers 2. Find clues & triggers 3. Put in own word Critical Reading 1. Read the Italicized blurb 2. Go the Question 1. Line #s 2. Key Words = Dates, Names, Stuff thats capitalized. 3. Save author’s purpose/opinion for last 3. Cover answer your answer choices 4. Rephrase the Question/Summarize 5. Read what you need to answer the question 6. Process of elimination What NOT to Pick 1. Extreme Answer Choices - best, worst, greatest 2. Insulting/offensive answers 3. Deceptive Language/Familiar Words When in doubt pick the wishy washy answer. Grammar Errors - Please make sure you have added the following information to the Cheat Sheet 1. Adverbs - Watch out for excessive "ly" endings. 2. Misplaced Modifiers - Very common error in your book. Make sure the phrase is describing what comes immediately after the comma. 3. Run Ons/Commas - Draw a line and identify subject verb 4. either or/neither nor - Must always be paired together. 5. Don't mix "you" and "one" Your schedule this week is to complete 2 timed sections every night until Friday. I recommend reviewing the following documents to remind yourself of the more obscure math problems, or info you might have forgotten since 6th grade. I also included a small sheet of the Grammar errors on the test.

Also make sure to complete sections 5 and 6 on pages 402-412. Go HERE and put a mark by the math questions that freak you out!!!!!
