Learning Target - I will refine my ability to speak and listen.
Task #1 - Persepolis Written Response Discussion - Please pick your best response and post it to the website. It should be based on both conventions and content/CM. Be ready to share.
- Why should you read this novel?
- What makes it difficult for you to connect or find this relevant?
- What has been the narrator’s biggest struggle, obstacle or conflict? Why?
- What is the most surprising, shocking, or important bit of historical context you have learned from the novel?
- What is the most relatable interaction Marji has with her parents?
- Create your own question based on what you find interesting.
As your peers share, write down any insightful comments you hear and generate your own questions about the story. Post 2 of your most relevant, meaningful questions as a reply to your original post.
Task #2 - Current Event Article Submission - You will also be emailing me your screenshot of a social media post with a link to the article (if you can). You will be graded on the following elements.
- How important is the issue? How do you write in a way that shows you know exactly why it is important?
- How balanced and informed is your response? How would someone who disagrees with you respond?
- Word choice and conventions!!!
Task #3 - End of Year Skills - Please make a copy of this list of skills I need to see and decide which tasks allow you to prove to me your best example of skill level. You will need to speak with directly in order to receive points for your tasks.
Task #4 - What Did It All Mean Work - Once you have shared, written your questions and reviewed our end of year skills, get back to filling out your “Persepolis” story. Brainstorm specific events that could be used to show your growth from a young teen to maturing adult...I know, that might be hard for some of you. ;)
Homework Tips - Keep reading and coming up with questions. The class will create the final test for this novel.
