We will be spending the week starting to prepare for To Kill a Mockingbird. Today, we watched a video on Mr. Ruskin's views about the Empathetic Civilisation (that is the British spelling). Try to apply this new information to your understanding of TKM as we begin reading. Make sure complete the Grande Chunk (TS, CD, CM, CM and a CS) and post it to your website or bring in a hard copy, preferably typed.HERE is the list of questions you needed to answer in class and the chunk prompt.

Thursday 4/25 - Please grab a computer, get out your notes and head on over to Skyward to take your Grammar Test. Make sure you are working on your own for the test.If you failed to remember your student log in info than you will complete your Animal Farm or HSPE Perfect Essay Revisions and submit them to turnitin.com. I will expect you to either complete the test or your essay by the end of class. The test will be open until Sunday night for those of you who are having difficulties. Over the next week and a half, we will continue to learn a few grammar rules or errors a day and work on our Animal Farm or HSPE essays. I want each of you to have a near perfect essay that demonstrates that you all understand exactly what a quality paper looks like. You will have several days to work on this in class but expect to finish up your revisions at home.
By the end of class tomorrow we will have covered all the following grammar guidelines: 1. Agreement between nouns, pronouns and their verbs. 2. Fragments and the key elements of a sentence - subjects, verbs & objects. 3. Subject & Object forms of pronouns 4. Ambiguous pronouns 5. Parallelism in lists 6. Be ready to share a Topic Sentence about your answer to Tuesday's question. Homework 4/18 - Edits & Revision Update (20 points) - A short description of the errors you have corrected over the last 2 days. 4/19 - Grammar Quiz 4/26 - AF and/or HSPE Perfect Paper (100 points) Please write a grande chunk (including a TS & CS) explaining what you believe to be the most important skill or bit of knowledge for a child to learn in the process of growing up. Your task today is to identify the biggest problem facing your society and come up with a clear solution that involves every citizen. You must have each person write down what they believe is the biggest problem & their own solution BEFORE coming to an agreement as a group. I also will require that each citizen writes down their new objective, task, responsibility or involvement in the solution.
While you are working on this, I will be checking your journal entries for Animal Farm. For those of you who still need time to work on your essays - that are due TONIGHT - can do so. However, do not expect peace and quiet as the rest of us will be playing with our websites. Today's first task, however, is a fun FreeWrite post on your websites. We will then go over your Home Page expectations that will be due tomorrow. Task #1 - Read the Rubric outline for your AF Essay
