Task #1 - Rough Draft Essay Requirements - Today, you will practice writing a rough draft based on your solid outlines for your EDU issues project. Please use the requirements and template to help guide you.
Intro Paragraph
Sentence #1 = Introduce your insightful opinion of your issue.
Sentences #2 to #4 = Describe your issue in more detail. Give the reader an overview of the problems and impact.
Sentence #5 = Your thesis
Body Paragraphs (at least two or three paragraphs)
Sentence #1 = Your more specific claim
Sentence #2 = Introduce your 1st CD
Sentences #3 to #4 = Commentary that explains why your CD is important, how it relates to the issue, why the reader should care and how it proves your claim
Sentence #5 = Introduce your 2nd CD
Sentences #6 to #7 = Commentary that explains why your CD is important, how it relates to the issue, why the reader should care and how it proves your claim
Sentence #8 = Concluding sentence that either helps the reader transition to the next claim or tells the reader how to think, act or feel about the claim
Concluding Paragraph
Sentence #1 = Reword and simplify your thesis
Sentences #2 to #3 = Remind the reader of what will happen if your solution is used
Sentence #4 = Call to action...tell the reader to act NOW!
Task #2 - In Class Write - Open your EDU outline doc. You will now have 40 minutes to get through as much of a rough draft as possible. This is your chance to find out what you are capable of. No grade is given. You do NOT need to finish. Just write.
Task #3 - Revisions & Outside Reading- Before you leave for break, please be aware of the following class expectations.
- You can revise any major assessment from turnitin.com that has a revision #1 task. You must look at my comments and schedule a meeting before resubmission.
- Outside Reading final assessment is due January 10th. Make sure you understand the requirements for your novel poster.
