Due 11/2 by the start of class - OMAM Final Characterization & Theme Responses (50 points)
No Computers Needed
Learning Target - I will learn how to actively take notes while listening & watching a story.
Task #1 - House On Loon Lake - As you listen to the story, write down any CDs that might help you solve the mystery or give you insight into the narrator.
Why did he become so obsessed with this mystery?
Also, be ready to answer several questions as we stop and take a closer look at the point the narrator is trying to make.
Final Assessment Overview - Your final assessment for OMAM is very simple. You will be writing 2 multiple CD paragraphs that prove your active reading and basic writing skills.
Paragraph #1 - Characterization - Choose 1 character you fully understand and find at least 2 CDs that would allow you to prove your understanding. You should focus on how the character thinks and feels based on what they do or say.
Your first bit of CM should explore their history and motives. Explain why they think and feel the way they do.
Your second bit of CM should identify their relevance, connection and realism to our world.
Paragraph #2 - Theme - Choose one of our major thematic topics, or one of your own, that Steinbeck was trying to make you think, act or feel differently about. Find at least 2 CDs that prove this theme/message.
Your first bit of CM should explore the theme within the story.
Your second bit of CM should make it relevant and true in our world.
Homework Tips - Keep writing your OMAM final paragraphs. You need to have your rough drafts ready for Thursday.
