Due 3/18/20 by Noon - Left Handed Kisses Day #1 Work
Computers Needed
Learning Target - I will refine my ability to identify characterization and other Lit terms in a source.
I apologize for not posting yesterday. I had a family friend pass away and felt the need to take some time to reflect.
Today will be a true test of how many students are trying to stay engaged. It is also your greatest Music “Monday” challenge. In fact, it is so challenging that it will take most of the week to cover all the skills required to show your “reading” skill level. Pay close attention to the steps and group you are assigned to. Also, you will need to check in daily in order to truly learn how powerful our senses are.
Task # 1 - Tune Tuesday - This week's song will be broken up into three parts. Make sure you are doing the work for the correct group.
ONLY DO WHAT WAS ASSIGNED TO YOU. DO NOT WATCH, LISTEN OR READ IF THAT WAS NOT WHAT I ASKED YOU TO DO.
Language Group - Students with a last name starting with A to H:
Step #1 - Make a copy of THE LYRICS
Step #2 - Actively read and annotate the lyrics
Step #3 - In your Reading 2 doc, identify the following lit terms
- Protagonist
- Antagonist (if there is one)
- Internal Conflicts
- External Conflicts
- Climax
- Resolution
- Theme
Step #5 - Post your theme to the class website comment section with your group name.
Listening Group - Students with a last name starting with I to P:
Step #1 - Open your Reading 2 document and type “3/17/20 - Left Handed Kisses”
Step #2 - Actively listen to the video below without watching it.
Step #3 - In your Reading 2 doc, write down any important CDs (words, phrases, sounds, song structure, changes) that you hear. You will probably not be writing down exact quotes. I just want you to write down what stands out to you, what your ear pays attention to.
Step #4 - Post 3 CDs about what you heard to the website comment section with your group name. Try to be precise in describing what you hear so someone who has not heard it can understand the sounds.
Characterization Group - Students with a last name starting with O to Z:
Step #1 - Mute the volume of your computer. THIS IS CRUCIAL!!!!
Step #2 - Open your Reading 2 doc and type “3/17/20 - Left Handed Kisses”
Step #3 - Just watch the video below - DO NOT LISTEN OR READ LYRICS - and write down all the visual CDs that stand out to you. Who does what? How do they act? What do their facial expressions say about how they think or feel?
Step #4 - In your Writing 2 doc, write a 1 CD response (not a quote) that explains how one of the characters is feeling or thinking.
Step #5 - On the website comment section, describe 3 visual CDs that stood out as being important in order to understand how the characters are feeling. Include your group name.
Requirements:
- Appropriate Novel written by an American author (200 page “minimum”)
- Active Reading Journal that proves your ability to identify theme, analyze characterization, evaluate language and harvest meaningful CDs (4 entries minimum from beginning to end of the novel)
- Four 2 CD responses (1 on theme, 1 on characterization, 1 on language, 1 self selected)
- Final Creative Presentation (this can be done in groups or individually...depending on your novel)
- Self-Generated Essay Prompts
Homework Tips - Post your assigned group work to the comment section. Feel free to check back in throughout the day to see what the other groups came up with.
Also, keep reading your novel!
