Due 3/19/20 by Noon - Left Handed Kisses Day #2 Work (most meaningful CD of figurative language)
Computers Needed
Learning Target - I will refine my ability to analyze/identify figurative language and obviously meaningful CDs.
We are continuing with yesterday’s song and there are several tasks to complete.
Task # 1 - Collaboration - Please go back to yesterday’s comments and review your peers responses.
Leave a reply to 2 different posts from people not in your group. Explain how their response agrees, contradicts or changes your understanding of the song, characters and themes.
Language Group - Students with a last name starting with A to H
Listening Group - Students with a last name starting with I to P
Characterization Group - Students with a last name starting with O to Z
Task # 2 - Language Analysis - Now all students need to make a copy of the LYRICS (if you did not already) and actively read/annotate.
This time, focus on elements of figurative language and words or phrases you do not understand and need to look up. Make sure you translate, brainstorm or summarize what the figurative language means.
Figurative language - phrases that cannot be interpreted literally.
Post your most meaningful CD with 2 bits of CM to the comment section of today’s post, explaining what it means and how it impacts the theme or your understanding of the characters.
Task #3 - Put It All Together - Now, I want all students to watch the video while following along with the lyrics. Add our Lit term answers to your Reading 2 doc if you have not already.
- Protagonist
- Antagonist (if there is one)
- Internal Conflicts
- External Conflicts
- Climax
- Resolution
- Theme
Tomorrow, you will get another chance to share ideas/CM and CDs, both visual and lyrical.
American Voices Independent Read & Assessment Reminder - If you do nothing else over break, PLEASE finish reading your American novel. Document CDs that help you identify the theme and understand the characters. Write your responses.

- Four 2 CD responses (1 on theme, 1 on characterization, 1 on language, 1 self selected)
- Final Creative Presentation (this can be done in groups or individually...depending on your novel)
